Last Sunday we took a little trip to East London (which is actually a long trip when you live in South West London). I had been longing to visit the Columbia Road Flower market since I moved to London but lazy as I am, it was very hard to wake up early on Sunday morning. The market only runs for half a day, from 8am to 2pm so it’s better to arrive as early as possible.
Upon arrival, it didn’t take long to figure out that Columbia Road is pretty special. The road was absolutely packed with people. Flower and plant vendors neatly lined each side of the road and behind them were dozens of independent shops specialising in antiques, home goods or stationery.
The good news is that the flowers and plants here are much cheaper than what you would find at any florist in Central London.
After visiting every shop, stand and having a coffee break at Lily Vanilli, I decided to get myself a bunch of peonies which can be found from £7.50 to £10.
Of course, I also took the opportunity to pose against these pretty doors.
WHAT I WORE
Espadrilles: Oasis| Jeans: Zara| Top: H&M| Bag: Zara(old)
Even though it is the prettiest market in London it can become quite hectic so we decided to take a short bus ride to Cafe Miami for a spot of lunch.
Tucked away in Clapton Cafe Miami is a pastel paradise; with everything from brunch, lunch and delicious coffee to some pretty pastel tables perfect for tackling work, creating a flat-lays or Sunday catch ups. The interior is inspired by an art-deco America, so you’ll feel like you are in a movie rather than 5 minutes walk from Hackney Central.
They seve brunch classics like waffles, pancakes, granola and avocado but they also have sweetcorn waffles, tacos, banana bread and traditional bacon sandwich and bagels.
