London’s Best Brunch Spots

Brunch is definiately my favourite meal of the day, everything about it is amazing from the fresh coffee, avocado’s and eggs to the surroundings at some of the best places you can go for brunch.

When you live in London finding a great place for brunch can be a very daunting task, but here I’ve done all of the hard work for you and written about five of my favourite brunch places so you don’t have to guess where to go!

Eggbreak

There aren’t many places where I really want to go back for breakfast because eggs are eggs, no matter where you go, right?

Well Eggbreak is in a different league. Settled in a quiet street just 2 minutes from Notting Hill Gate station, this small but absolutly charming place will make you come back for more. They serve meals all day, from breakfast to dinner so you can also order granola and a burger toghether. But when it comes to brunch forget about ordering avocado with eggs on toast and expect something totally different like Shashuka, Turkish or Levantine eggs or their cornflake french toast which will blow your mind. My favourite combination is definitely the sweet potato rosti with goat’s cheese, honey, kale, pinenuts and dill yoghurt.

The only downside of this place is that they don’t accept bookings so the queue can be pretty big. However to get around this they recently introduced a text service with queue numbers. You register your name and give your phone number to them and they will then text you when your table is available. Waiting won’t be too hard as you are close to the colourful and instagramable streets of Notting Hill that you can explore while you wait.

Avobar

London’s first all-avo dining concept started as a pop-up but now has a permanent site in Covent Garden.  Avobar does pretty much what it says – it’s a restaurant where everything on the menu has avocado in it, on it or blended into it. Aside from all the food, you’ll also be able to ‘gram the lush interiors – imagine a California cool vibe plus a load of avocado-based skincare products from the cutesy little in-house shop. There are plants and green tiles everywhere and the wooden seats are lined with colourful and tropical-looking cushions to create a cosy atmosphere.

If that is not enough to get you there ASAP, Avobar sources their avocados ethically and sustainably working with growers and farmers all over the world.

Avobar, 23-24 Henrietta Street, London, WC2

Dayrooms Cafe

Dayrooms Cafe is a tiny venue on Kensington Park Road. Aussie inspired, it’s a stylish and relaxed cafe, offering fresh and healthy brunch dishes that are interesting and full of flavour. Every dish is beautifully presented, making this one of the most instagrammable brunches in London. The interior is well-lit with plants, a turquoise tiled floor and wicker light shades. On a sunny day, the two tables outside are the perfect spot for people watching.  No matter what you choose from the menu you won’t be dissapointed but I would recommend their sticky sesame chicken roll for brunch after 12pm and for something lighter – smoked salmon royal croissaint.

Granger & CO

Granger & Co is a global Australia cafe from Bill Granger with branches in places like Honolulu, Sydney and Tokyo. In London, we are lucky enough to have four located in Clarkenwell, Chelsea,Kings Cross and Notting Hill. I had heard great things about Granger & Co, with their fluffy ricotta pancakes and scrambled eggs making people swoon but I put off visiting this place for so long mainly because the long queues are start from the early morning.  One weekend we got up really early and got there at (what we thought is early), 9:30. There was no queue but also no tables. I can say we were lucky enough to get a bar seat because as soon as we sat down there was 10+ people already waiting. We opted for the famous pancakes (of course) and simple scrambled eggs on sourdough toast.

I now understand why people queue.

The pancakes were definitely the best pancakes I’ve ever tried and eggs were so rich and buttery. Delicious! I can’t recommend Granger & Co. enough. Get there early if you don’t want to queue but know that it’s worth the wait.

Ivy Chelsea Garden

As you might know, Ivy is a chain of restaurants around London. I could easily write about any other location but I chose the one in Chelsea because of its interior. Colourfully decorated with a beautiful garden terrace area, it’s a lovely spot to fuel up with their extensive breakfast menu till 11:30, or weekend brunch. I would recommend pancakes (surprise) but no matter what you choose you won’t be disapointed.

However, the real highlight is the exterior that displays a different seasonal floral instalation reguraly seen on many London influencer’s snaps.

 Skinny Kitchen

Ibiza-originated restaurant group, owned by former personal trainer Joel Belchemand his wife Louise, is bringing its brand of hip clean eating and Ibiza mantra of “Eat Clean, Rave Dirty” to London with its first opened location in Islington.

With an all-day dining menu of fresh juices and organic coffee in the morning to superfood cocktails in the evening, the restaurant’s food menu caters to everyone no matter their dietary needs – from gluten-free, vegans, vegetarians, bodybuilders or just people that love eating healthy.

It was really hard to choose from an extensive menu but we opted for pancakes – eggs and bacon and peanut butter, banana and strawberries which were to die for.

When it comes to Insta-worthy spots, Skinny Kitchen won’t disappoint you. A big heated outdoor terrace brings island vibes, while the interior boosts sleek pink tiles, vibrant teal velvet booth seating with vibrant plants and green foliage dangling from the ceiling.

Want to go out in London for a bit of festive spirit but without the interruption of tourists and Christmas shoppers? Then look no further than Belgravia!

Motcombe Street is a new discovery for me. This little chocolate box street looks like it fell out of a fairytale with all the cute shops and twinkling lights. At one point a proper carriage with horses went through the street!

The one thing you can’t miss when you are here is the cutest chocolate shop – Rococo Chocolates. Not only you can buy organic chocolates in the nicest packaging for Chrismas gifts but you can enjoy London’s best hot chocolate. Choose between classic, cinnamon spiced, sea-salt or one with a hint of chili that’ll warm you up on these winter days. There is no cream on top but something much nicer – a homemade marshmallow on a stick to dunk into your hot drink.

This place also has a Chocolate School that offers a variety of workshops, classes and tastings for adults and children from beginner to expert. Also as if that wasn’t already enough there is a huge teddy bear in the window.   If that doesn’t make you want go out of your house on a cold winter day, nothing will 🙂

It’s December!

I’m officially allowed to go overboard with all things Christmas here and on my Instagram. In London, Christmas actually started at the beginning of November so I have been collecting the pretty pictures of Christmas decorations all around the city and now they will start coming out. To mark the beginning of Christmas time we decided to visit magical place in the Central London – Dalloway Terrace.

This little place has been transformed into the winter wonderland with fake snow, pine trees and an endless supply of snuggly blankets. It is absolute Instagram heaven. There is no surprise it is full of people who eat their food lukewarm after documenting everything on Instagram.

The atmosphere was so cozy and peaceful , we felt like we were in Narnia and the wait staff were brilliant from the very start. The menu was amazing and we wanted to order literally everything but at the end we opted for french toast, one with fresh berries, one with bacon and saved some space for delicious hot chocolate with biscuits at the end.

Walking on Sunshine

Yes, I have this hat just like the rest of the Instagram gang. I found this one on Depop after a long search.  It’s a good investment if you don’t live in England. But we have some nice days here as well like last weekend when we went for a walk along the River Thames in Twickenham. It’s a great place if you want to relax by sitting near the river to feed the ducks, or you could explore the nearby York House Gardens or have a longer walk along the river all the way to Richmond.

I’m obsessed with stripes but this is the only striped skirt I own. I think it’s good to choose vertical stripes when it comes to skirts because they make you look taller compared to horizontal stripes. I found this one in Zara on sale last autumn, but I didn’t have the opportunity to wear it before.

This top I found in the H&M Trend section. Out of all the H&M concepts, I like Trend the most. It might cost a little bit more but every single garment is just perfect and ‘on trend’. You can check out the range here.

Mysterious Island

eel pie-4eel pie-9eel pieeel pie-6eel pie-11I have been living in Twickenham for a few months now and I was aware that there is a boatyard and some houses on the other side of the river Thames, but I never expected to find such a mysterious, Narnia-like island just a bridge away.

Eel Pie Island is part of London but a world away from it.

This island is home to a colourful array of inventors, artists, craftsmen and boat builders, who decorate their houses, studios and little alleyways with a Alice in Wonderland charm.

But it wasn’t always this quiet.

Before I crossed the bridge I read some interesting facts online about it, like Henry VIII built a hotel there and the island was a popular holiday destination. In 1950s the hotel was renamed into the Eelpiland Dance Club and became the birthplace of a youth movement gathering young beatniks listening to jazz music and later even hosting concerts of David Bowie and the Stones. Eventually, when the party scene got out of control, a mysterious fire burned the hotel to the ground and then squatters took over…

Ok, I got carried away with the history lesson about the location but I thought it was worth sharing! Be aware that the island is private but it has two open days every year (in July and December) where you can have a peek inside the quirky gardens and even meet the artists.

Now let’s talk clothes!

This polka dot top is my absolute favourite this summer and I got it on sale from Zara. It’s surprising how good it can look with almost every colour of skirt or jeans. The only thing is that it looks better on high waisted items.

For this occassion I paired it with a very simple H&M skirt as the top is a statement on its own and tan New Look sandals which are a couple of seasons old now.

The bag is from the Bosnian brand Cocopat and unfortunately they do not deliver anywhere at the moment apart from Balkan countries (Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia etc.).  Their bags are great quality and so so pretty. This is the first bag that I got from them but definitely not the last one.

Columbia Road Flower Market

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Last Sunday we took a little trip to East London (which is actually a long trip when you live in South West London). I had been longing to visit the Columbia Road Flower market since I moved to London but lazy as I am, it was very hard to wake up early on Sunday morning. The market only runs for half a day, from 8am to 2pm so it’s better to arrive as early as possible.

Upon arrival, it didn’t take long to figure out that Columbia Road is pretty special. The road was absolutely packed with people. Flower and plant vendors neatly lined each side of the road and behind them were dozens of independent shops specialising in antiques, home goods or stationery.

The good news is that the flowers and plants here are much cheaper than what you would find at any florist in Central London.

After visiting every shop, stand and having a coffee break at Lily Vanilli, I decided to get myself a bunch of peonies which can be found from £7.50 to £10.

Of course, I also took the opportunity to pose against these pretty doors.

Even though it is the prettiest market in London it can become quite hectic so we decided to take a short bus ride to Cafe Miami for a spot of lunch.

Tucked away in Clapton  Cafe Miami is a pastel paradise; with everything from brunch, lunch and delicious coffee to some pretty pastel tables perfect for tackling work, creating a flat-lays or Sunday catch ups.  The interior is inspired by an art-deco America, so you’ll feel like you are in a movie rather than 5 minutes walk from Hackney Central.

They seve brunch classics like waffles, pancakes, granola and avocado but they also have sweetcorn waffles, tacos, banana bread and traditional bacon sandwich and bagels.

After discovering Syon House and Garden earlier this year I just keep coming back. Not many know about this place, probably because it’s a secluded, all the way in the zone 5, London Borough of Hounslow, and it’s used mainly as a wedding venue.

I’ve never been a model but I love the process of taking the pictures and rushing home to edit them. That’s why it wasn’t a problem for me to wake up early on Sunday morning and go to this magical place with my friend before other people start coming. We were lucky because it was a beautiful sunny and warm September day.

Walking around and enjoying only birds and squirrels, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the people who use to lived there, and some still do ( house is owned by Duke of Northumberland).I was feeling like I’m in a fairytale, most possibly because of tulle with gold embroidery I finally found!

Borough Colours

001_JH.jpg

Many people visited Borough Market but you can’t say you actually been there until you visit it on Saturday early morning, without tourists, crowd and noise.

It’s so peacefull and you can actually see all of its beauty rather than bumping into people.

If you’re a foodie, Borough Market is heaven. They have everything you could possibly wish for. From grocery stalls, piled high with fresh produce to artisanal bakeries, deli shops to most important, street food stalls.

I got up last Saturday way too early for me and went for a stroll with my friend

And lots of good looking stalls…

Who would resist and not have sneaky little treat…or two

I’m so glad that, even though summer is almost finished, new collections on the high street are still colourful.

As soon as I saw this skirt I knew that this is the item that will keep me cheerful during cold autumn days.

And of course, everyone needs cute little bee bag, right?

Mademoiselle Prive Exhibition

CHANEL-MADEMOISELLE-PRIVE---EN_500_750_90

From the 13th October until 1st November you have a chance to visit Mademoiselle Prive exibition at Saatchi Gallery , exhibition that dives into the world of Chanel’s founder Coco but also explores Karl Lagerfeld, who has been creative director at the French fashion house since 1983.

It took a whole year to set up the show and this is the third for Chanel at the Saatchi Gallery, following ‘The Little Black Jacket’ in 2012, and an exhibition of Sam Taylor-Johnson’s photographs of Coco Chanel’s apartment in Paris last year.

The exhibition takes up the entire three floors of the Saatchi Gallery space, beginning with a specially made garden designed to represent key influences in Coco’s life.

The exhibition begins with the mirrored staircase above Chanel’s salon. Key moments in Chanel’s life – the opening of her first store, a Deauville hat shop, the summers she spent in Scotland.
